AMAZON'S LEARNING TO LEARN
The Learning to Learn modules were developed to meet the diverse needs of neurodiverse students, addressing varying abilities and disabilities in classroom settings. Originating from a review of Amazon employees in a 15-week boot camp, the project aimed to equip students with tools for their learning experience, focusing on self-awareness, self-management, and productivity strategies.
Challenges in content selection and system limitations led to the modules being repurposed as an instructor toolbox, which ultimately proved more beneficial than direct student delivery.
Responsibilities: Research, needs analysis, instructional strategy, visual design
Target Audience: Flatiron instructors
Tools: Notion, Powerpoint, Adobe Photoshop

Learning Objectives
-
Students will develop autonomy and responsibility in their approach to online learning, enhancing their ability to make meaningful decisions throughout the learning process.
-
Students will improve their motivation and academic performance by cultivating a sense of control and developing effective learning strategies.
Needs Analysis
With nearly 30 percent of the general population being neurodiverse, there is a need to create inclusive learning environments that cater to diverse learning styles and conditions such as ADHD, dyslexia, and dyspraxia. Career changers, typically age 30+ and new learners, typically 25 and under in tech bootcamps require support in developing effective learning strategies to increase motivation and academic performance.
Instructional Design Approach
I chose to follow the ADDIE model for this course. This systematic approach creates a well-structured and comprehensive learning experience and supports the build of a framework for enhanced learning.
Content Development
The content development process involved instructional design, and visual design, and focused on creating asynchronous learning materials for students, both neurodivergent and neuro-normative to access and learn from. The content was finalized based on the highest areas of difficulty for online learners using Notion and Adobe Photoshop for conceptualization and visual design, to create visually stimulating and accessible learning resources.
The main challenge was selecting the most relevant content to include in the course, considering the time constraints and the specific needs of busy learners. Additionally, limitations within the Learning Management System restricted the inclusion of content that could have catered to all learning styles simultaneously.
Assessment and Evaluation
Self-reflection activities were provided for ongoing feedback and opportunities for self-assessment per cohort, administered per instructor to evaluate the overall learning outcomes and the impact of the modules on student motivation and academic performance.
Project Management
The project was managed using effective project management using Notion for clear communication, task delegation, and regular progress monitoring for the successful delivery of each Learning to Learn module.
Technology and Tools Used
Notion and Adobe Photoshop were used as technology tools for project management, conceptualization and visual design.
